Intentional Generosity

 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11 NIV

 Where to be generous.

  1. I will intentionally share my resources.

On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. 1 Corinthians 16:2

Become a percentage giver.

  1. I will intentionally share my time.
  1. I will intentionally share Christ.

Are you moved with compassion?

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Mark 1:40-41 NKJV

Compassion: Awareness of the misfortune of another accompanied with the action to relieve it.

  • See people and life through the lens of eternity

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

  • Generosity leads, heart follows

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them. Matthew 9:35-36

  • Experience God’s love for myself

Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven- -for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little. Luke 7:47

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19
